Set up two-factor authentication (required)

Section titled “Set up two-factor authentication (required)”

greneIT requires two-factor authentication (also called MFA or TOTP) on every account. Until it is switched on, every page shows Two-factor authentication required and you can only open Settings → Account.

Settings → Account, showing the two-factor authentication card

  1. Install an authenticator app on your phone, for example Ente Auth, Google Authenticator or 1Password.
  2. Click Set up MFA, or open Settings → Account.
  3. Scan the QR code with the authenticator app. If you can’t scan it, click Use text code instead and type the code into the app.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code from the app in Authenticator code.
  5. Click Enable MFA. The card now shows the Enabled badge.
  6. Click Show backup codes, then Copy codes, and store them in your password manager. You need a backup code if you lose your phone.
  7. Click Continue to dashboard. If you enabled MFA in another tab, click I already enabled MFA on the reminder instead.

On Settings → Account, under Password:

  • If you sign in with a password, enter your Current password and a New password, then click Update password.
  • If you sign in with a social account, click Email password reset link and follow the email to set a password.
  • Click Log out at the bottom of the left-hand menu, or the sign-out icon in the header.
  • For your security, the portal signs you out automatically after 30 minutes without any activity.
